During Covid-19, many 5C students have taken on side-hustles, hobbies, or created their own small businesses.
One Pitzer student has established a business that connects her and her customers to Pitzer in the time away from campus.
Camille Creighton (she/her) Pitzer ‘23 started Easy PZ Apparel in January of 2021, promoting her t-shirt business on social media, with her Pitzer themed prints.
“I have felt that it has been hard to stay connected to Pitzer. I wanted to create something that could make me and other students feel more connected to Pitzer while none of us can be on campus” said Creighton.
Joshua Tree, a favorite spot for the Sophomore and many of her Pitzer classmates, became inspiration to create two Southern California themed t-shirts.

The shirt on the left (in green) shows Easy PZ Apparel’s simple cactus design drawn by Camille Creighton. The shirt on the right (in blue) shows the hand-drawn Joshua Tree inspired Easy PZ t-shirt.
Though her t-shirts are designed for the Pitzer Community, so far Creighton has been selling mostly to her close friends, but “I am hoping to be able to reach a larger circle of people” she said. So far her instagram @easypzapparel has gained a few dozen followers in just a month.
Easy PZ Apparel prioritizes sustainability and ethical sales, using a two-pronged approach. Firstly, all the materials used are sustainable, local, and ethically sourced.
Creighton said: “I work to create an environmentally sustainable business by using sustainable materials. The shirts that I print on are HanesBrands t-shirts, which is an eco friendly brand that uses renewable sources and more than 100 million pounds of recycled materials each year to produce their clothing. Hanes fabric itself is also made with responsibly grown US Cotton.”
Secondly, Creighton has decided to donate 10% of her profits from selling t-shirts to the Surfrider Foundation.
“I decided to donate part of the profits to the Surfrider Foundation because I really like what they stand for, and they are a California based foundation so I know that the donations will directly impact the area that I am living in, and the area surrounding Pitzer,” she said.
So, I know that I’ve been objective so far. However, I’ll take this opportunity right now to say BUY FROM PZ APPAREL! The t-shirts are super cute, they come in multiple colors and designs. They are affordable, you can support a fellow 5C and Pitzer student for less than it’ll cost you for most big brand printed shirts. AND, these shirts are sustainable, plus 10% of your money will be going to a good cause, fighting Climate Change.
As Creighton herself says: “I would obviously love for more people to buy the shirts! I think they are super cute and a great way to feel connected to our school during Covid times. I can ship anywhere in the US!”
